Hundreds Of Willamette Valley Lightning Strikes And One Exploding Tree

This is how the light show ended: with spectacular bolts of lightning over Salem.

But all the thunder and lightning actually got its start over the Washington Cascades–and with intense lightning around Battle Ground, Washington.

After the storms refused to move much, they finally started heading south into Vancouver at about the time we were starting our 6pm newscast.

Rebuilding Joplin, Missouri – One Year Tornado Anniversary

It seemed like it couldn’t be real.

But the devastation caused by the Joplin Missouri tornado was real.

And since May 22, 2011 when this picture was taken, the people and the city of Joplin have been busy rebuilding.

Partial Eclipse 2012 Visible From Oregon & Washington–Barely

Here’s how the partial eclipse of 2012 looked above New Mexico. Wow, the ring of fire! Thanks to Robert Ball for posting this shot on my favorite sky watching site.
