Central Oregon Slammed By Heavy, Wet Snow

Imagine you spent Valentine’s Day 2011 in Bend. Highs hit 60 degrees and there was no snow anywhere, except a melting pile or two to the side of the road.

Then you wake up on the 15th of February and it’s been snowing an inch an hour overnight!

Now that’s a shocker.

This picture that Dave Stalker sent in from Bend shows the sudden accumulation of snow.… Read more

Blowing Sand, Blowing Snow & How Low Northwest Snow Levels Go

Is the rhyming headline okay?

Strange Clouds Over Mount Hood & Mount Jefferson Are Signs Of Changing Weather

When I was on vacation last year in Central Oregon, I had a farmer tell me that he never cuts hay if clouds are appearing above Mount Hood. He was talking about the same type of strange looking clouds that appeared over our mountains on Thursday evening February 3rd, 2011.

In meteorology we call them Lenticular clouds. But they have a ton of nicknames. UFORead more
