Weather odds actually favor the first day of summer being unusually warm in Portland and the rest of the I-5 Corridor.
At least in recent years. Who knew?
I researched this for the my weathercasts last night on KOIN Local 6 News. The chart to the right shows the Portland high temperatures on the first day of summer from 2007 to 2011. The average high is 74 degrees.… Read more

The whole thing started innocently enough. With snow showers and sun breaks right down to the waters of the Pacific Ocean…and the Willamette River…and the Columbia River.

Check out how much snow Portland had on the ground this week in 2008. Wow, the December 2008 theme was cold and snow. A forty year snow for the metro area right down to the valley floor. And a 50 year cold snap that kept hanging on.

Early Wednesday Morning Update: one more round of heavy rain and gusty winds needs to pass through western Oregon & Washington. This should happen commute time or a bit later this morning. After the cold front passes through, winds die off and we should quickly dry out. We’re almost there!
