Thousands in Portland & Vancouver Area Feel Washington Earthquake

A funny thing happened on my way to doing the 5 o’clock weather forecast: an earthquake hit a single mile northeast of Amboy, Washington and was felt as far away as Vernonia in the Coast Range, Sherwood on the metro area’s west side and Oregon City on the metro area’s east side.

I sure didn’t see that one coming at 5:03pm! I doubt you did, either.… Read more

The Wildest Weather Of Winter 2012 (So Far) In Pictures

The whole thing started innocently enough. With snow showers and sun breaks right down to the waters of the Pacific Ocean…and the Willamette River…and the Columbia River.

This was too small to generate any kind of tsunami (closer to magnitude 7.0 is the approximate ‘tsunami generating size’ of quake you need).

But it’s a reminder that the Pacific Northwest is an earthquake… Read more

Spring Trend Appearing For The Pacific Northwest

You remember the music group Survivor, right? Well, only if you know the song “Eye of the Tiger” from 1982. Survivor is a one hit wonder.

And you know Los Del Rio, don’t you? Only if you’ve been to a wedding reception and danced to the “Macarena”! Another one hit wonder. This time from 1996.

But who can forget Lipps, Inc.? C’mon–you know them. Well, only for… Read more
