December 3, 2011 by Bruce Sussman 3 Comments

On the night the Oregon Duck's clinched their spot to go back to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena...people in that very city were in the middle of what you see in this picture: cleaning up from a damaging Santa Ana wind storm that came in two different blasts. This picture is a Pasadena city street. So … [Read more...]

We Should Have Called It ‘Wild Weather Wednesday’

November 17, 2011 by Bruce Sussman Leave a Comment

A wild Wednesday in so many ways. Peak gusts from the south topped 40mph some places--hitting their max between 7 and 10pm. Thousands lost power. And temperatures shot up after dark. Portland was about 10 degrees warmer at 11pm than it had been at noon! We had a dusting of snow in Hood … [Read more...]

I’ve Heard The Rumors: “We Could See Valley Snow This Week”

November 14, 2011 by Bruce Sussman 1 Comment

That's right. I've heard the rumors of Portland snow. Have you? I was on a dinner-date with our four year old last night at Buster's Barbecue. He had the chicken leg kids plate. October 8, 2011 by Bruce Sussman 2 Comments

It was out over farm country southwest of Spokane where the winds can really whip around. In this picture, you're looking at a tornado (which is actually touching the ground) and a funnel cloud. A funnel cloud is a rotating cloud but by definition, does NOT touch the ground. This all happened … [Read more...]

October 5, 2011 by Bruce Sussman Leave a Comment

The snow on early Wednesday October 5, 2011, was  enough to get me thinking about hitting the slopes for the first time this season. It's just magic, isn't it. The anticipation will continue from now until opening day! This picture shows just enough snow at Mt. Bachelor to cover most of the … [Read more...]

Portland September Heatwave

September 12, 2011 by Bruce Sussman Leave a Comment

In a summer where we talked for months about whether we'd ever hit 90 degrees, we really outdid ourselves at the end. In Portland, Oregon, we average 78 degrees for our high temperatures during the second week of September. But as you see here, in September 2011, the average high temperature … [Read more...]
