Beaverton Earthquake Tracked With KOIN Local 6 Weather App

November 11, 2011 by Bruce Sussman 2 Comments

We’ve got so much cool technology going on at KOIN Local 6 right now, with so many features, I thought I’d write an occassional ‘Feature Friday’ post.

And I’m starting with the earthquake you see on the right – which happened between the crest of Bull Mountain and Scholls Ferry Road–but more specifically, near the Northview City Park in Beaverton.

It was a 2.3 earthquake at 2:45pm on Friday 11/11/11. I just had to work in the 11/11/11 somewhere!

Anyway, I opened my PinPoint Weather App on my iPhone to check on incoming rain (I totally use this thing!) and bingo–a red dot told me about the quake. I think this is one of the cool features about our new App.

Here’s more on how you get the PinPoint Weather App and how you turn earthquakes ‘on’.

Ray–by the score of the game, looks like the weather was perfect. Today–that field is covered in snow! Sorry for the slow reply. And how exciting to have the Seahawks win it all!
