“It never rains at Autzen Stadium!”
I’m amazed how true this is each Oregon Ducks football season.
It may not rain at Autzen…but this picture proves it snows. In Spring. 7″ of snow on the field at Autzen Stadium.
March 21, 2012 is the latest big season snow in Eugene, Oregon history. So if you’re reading this at the University of Oregon you can say you were there for a history making storm!
Unusually cool air was in place–but heavy moisture dumping down cooled that air just enough for rain to change to a heavy, wet snow. And it just kept coming.
Highs on March 22 – the second full day of Spring 2012:
36 degrees – Eugene – 21 below average!
36 degrees – Salem – 21 below average
39 degrees – Portland – 19 degrees below average
Wow, let’s hope this unusual cold is not the theme of spring!
