Willamette Valley Wind Tonight And Overnight: Get Your Flashlights Ready

December 16, 2012 by Bruce Sussman Leave a Comment

It’s been over a year since Portland winds speeds topped 50mph.

But it appears we’re going to do that tonight–and overnight.

Our KOIN Local 6 WindCast shows the strongest gusts hitting between 1-2am on early Monday morning. Those gusts will likely top 50mph and given our unusually wet weather, take down enough trees to give us a decent number of power outages. Before I came to work tonight in our PinPoint Weather Center I made sure we had working flashlights in the rooms where we spend the most time. Just in case.

For peak gusts we’ve already had–and a running series of updates, check out my posts on koinlocal6.com.

And one more thing, watch for snow mixing in with the rain again by Monday evening in heavier showers.

Cold air moves in quickly after the storm…
