Partial Solar Eclipse Above Portland And The Northwest

May 18, 2012 by Bruce Sussman 2 Comments

So here it is: a really cool solar eclipse happening this weekend in our skies.

But I’m not sure the weather will let us see it.

I hope the forecast is wrong–and that it’s sunny and clear on Sunday evening. And just in case…here’s what you need to know.

The timing of the partial solar eclipse of 2012 over Portland and the northwest is as follows:

Starts: 5:04pm

Peaks: 6:21pm

Ends: 7:29pm

If you want to see the eclipse in Seattle or if you want to see the eclipse in Los Angeles or if you want to see the eclipse in Spokane — the times vary by just a few minutes. So use these numbers as a guide and you’ll enjoy the show.

So, is there anywhere we can drive to get above or away from the clouds? I’m not sure how high up they are.. would driving to Timberline be any use?
