This is the big picture on what I expect over the next few days.
Wednesday’s going to turn hot.
Thursday & Friday we’ll see lots of upper 90s–and I believe, many triple digit highs as well. Tough to say right now if Thursday or Friday will be the hottest.
This is going to be our second heat wave of 2012. And around Portland, we generally consider a heat wave three consecutive days at or above 90 degrees. That happened August 4-6, 2012–with a peak high of 102 degrees. Our hottest day since 2009.
Here a few more details.
Obviously, the definition of a heat wave is based on what the weather is like where you are. Phoenix, Arizona would call our ‘heat wave’ a ‘cold snap’ or something like that at this time of year!
