Sunset Milestone In Portland, Northwest Is Gaining Daylight Fast

April 18, 2011 by Bruce Sussman Leave a Comment

Time flies.

It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year with a Portland sunset at 4:38pm.

But tonight, April 18, we hit a sunset milestone in Portland.

The sun will set at 8:01pm. The first time it has set later than eight o’clock since last fall!

Portland-Vancouver: Gaining Daylight Fast

  • We are gaining 2-3 minutes of daylight each day
  • On January 1, the sun was up for 8hours and 47 minutes (8:47)
  • On April 18, the sun will be up for 13hours and 41 minutes. (13:41)

Now…if we can just get some days in the 70s around here…we can really take advantage of the longer days.

Hopefully that happens soon!
