Spring Trend Appearing For The Pacific Northwest

You remember the music group Survivor, right? Well, only if you know the song “Eye of the Tiger” from 1982. Survivor is a one hit wonder.

And you know Los Del Rio, don’t you? Only if you’ve been to a wedding reception and danced to the “Macarena”! Another one hit wonder. This time from 1996.

But who can forget Lipps, Inc.? C’mon–you know them. Well, only for their hit “Funkytown” in 1980. Yep. One hit wonder. Again.

And this springs weather trend (so far) is incredibly easy to spot–it’s the spring of “one hit wonders.” We have a single day that goes ‘platinum’ on us with wall to wall sun and a sudden spike in our high temperatures that is surrounded on all sides by cool and damp weather. Think I’m making this up just so I can write about some music groups? You should just blame this entire post on La Nina.

The Spring Of The One Hit Wonder

Here’s a look at our only warm and mostly sunny days this spring–you’ll recognize the warm one out of each group…

• 63 degrees – March 30
• 68 degrees – April 1
• 52 degrees – April 2

 

• 64 degrees – April 22
• 70 degrees – April 23
• 57 degrees – April 24

 

• 60 degrees – April 30
• 67 degrees – May 1
• 61 degrees – May 2

 

• 60 degrees May 3
• 70 degrees May 4
• 59 degrees May 5

 

• 61 degrees May 23
• 68 degrees May 24
• 60 degrees May 25

And looking ahead…we may have another one of these on our hands this coming Tuesday – when it should be sunny and close to 70 degrees. But that is, ‘our alloted nice day of the week’ as someone mentioned over on my facebook weather page.

The music charts are full of one hit wonders–hopefully our northwest spring will not be known for that in 2011!
