Take That California: Portland, Oregon, The Driest In The Western U.S.

February 8, 2012 by Bruce Sussman 3 Comments

I may have uncovered the craziest little weather fact there is about Portland’s dry and sunny start to February 2012.

I just ran the numbers from the first seven days of February–and it turns out Portland is drier than Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego and even Los Angeles!

I love it when that happens.  Probably because it almost never does. Yep, that could have something to do with it.

The second week of February looks wetter than the first for Portland and Vancouver. But so far, I don’t see any real soakers in our immediate future.

Until then, it could continue to be a real battle for the title of the ‘driest major city’ on the west coast!

Congratulations to Portland, Bruce! We could have given you a run for the money here, if it hadn’t been for the first 5 hours of February 1st.

Roland—sorry for the slow approval of this post. You should be grandfathered in…I don’t know why I had to approve the latest comment. As far as I know, you’re on the ‘good’ list again, ha-ha. And haven’t you always wanted to be on that one? Have a great weekend!

Hey Bruce, I love your attitude towards the weather. It’s awesome! I was wondering what the chances were this winter season for another big snowstorm in Southwest Washington?
