Portland April 2012 – Some Crazy Facts

May 1, 2012 by Bruce Sussman 3 Comments

My favorite crazy fact of April 2012: no measurable rain on any Saturday, all month long!

Now that’s a trend I like to see. We also hit 82 degrees two days in a row in Portland–setting new records those days.

The graphic below has the low down on April rainfall. It was a wet month!

Hi Bruce: We had similar statistics here as you did. My rainfall total of 4.89 inches was about 121% above average. We did have a few very light showers during the last weekend of the month, otherwise rain free weekends. But I’m really hoping for some warmth- my tomato plants are looking pale!

Roland–thanks for the update. I know I sometimes wish Portland was ‘just a little more south’ to decrease the rain and increase the temperatures. Do you feel the same way in Vancouver?

Yes, Bruce- I certainly have felt that way many times. By the way, keep aiming that warm air from Oregon in our direction: With a bit of luck, we may reach 80F here on Sunday. (I’ll let you know if we do). What happens when it does reach that temperature in Vancouver, BC? We head for the beaches!
