Portland’s Record Dry Stretch Finally Over

October 12, 2012 by Bruce Sussman 1 Comment

Did you catch KOIN Local 6 at 11 last night?

Anchor Jeff Gianola sang “Turn out the lights, the party’s over…”

And that has to mean our record dry stretch is ending. Some of the facts about it are in this graphic. Who knows how long it will be until we see something like this again in the rainy northwest? It could be years. Or even decades. We’ll see.

Portland Rainy Season 2012-2012 And How It Starts

I whipped up a little graphic here with my latest thoughts on how we go back to the ‘rainy side’ of life. In food terms, I’d say Friday’s the appetizer and Sunday’s system is the entree.

Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Bruce:Well the dry season is definetly over in Vancouver BC also. I’ve seen 82 days (July 22-October11) where we had just under an inch, come to an end today (I’ve measured over half an inch at 9pm). The next couple of days should see at least another 2 inches. Co-incidentally, some of my heaviest ever rainfall measurements have come in mid-October. (oct.16th especially in 2003)
