My Chance To Do Weather With A Girl Who Is Battling Cancer

April 8, 2012 by Bruce Sussman 1 Comment

Here name is Daisy.

She’s 13 years old and already been through so much.

And on Friday April 6, 2012, she wanted a chance to do the weather on TV.

The picture you see here is a practice round before the 4pm newscast on KOIN Local 6. Doesn’t she look like a natural?

She was so good that when we were done Jeff Gianola gave here a high five and told her she would be hired as our newest meteorologist!

We had the chance to meet because KOIN Local 6 had a special ‘casual Friday’ to let others know about Camp Ukandu (say you-can-do). This is a medically supervised camp that happens each year near Gresham, Oregon so kids battling cancer can just be kids. You know what I mean?

Here’s more on the Camp and the inspiring video of Daisy–the girl who came into the PinPoint Weather Center and nearly stole my job!
